The International Mental Health Leadership program is a joint initiative of the University of Melbourne and Harvard Medical School. The Co-Directors of the Program are Professor Harry Minas, Melbourne, and Professor Byron Good, Harvard.

The Centre for International Mental Health at the University of Melbourne is a teaching, research and policy development centre with programs that aim to improve mental health and wellbeing of populations in Australia, Asia and Southeastern Europe. It is a partner in the World Health Organisation Mental Health Global Action Program.                       

The Department of Social Medicine is an interdisciplinary basic science department of Harvard Medical School.Its faculty of anthropologists, sociologists, historians, ethicists, social policy specialists, and clinicians teach and conduct research about the social, cultural and moral aspects of illness and health care. For the past decade, its faculty has been at the forefront of efforts to place mental health on the international population health agenda.
