Leadership Training

A ten-day intensive training on Leadership for Mental Health System Development in Indonesia was held recently in Jakarta, Indonesia, as the first training of its kind. National Task Force for Mental Health System Development in Indonesia organized the training.

Twenty-nine participants from various professional backgrounds such as, psychiatry, psychology, general practice, nursing, research, social work, NGOs in mental health including consumer representative groups, and occupational therapy participated in the training. Participants came from various institutions including Ministry of Health, province/district health offices, mental hospitals, general hospitals, drug dependency hospitals, Puskesmas (Primary Health Centres), universities, Human Right National Commission, and consumer and carer groups.

The objective of the training is to develop participants’ understanding and knowledge of the importance of, and impediments to, the scaling up of mental health services in Indonesia’s context. The training is planned as an annual event as an effort to improve the mental health system development in Indonesia.
